Box Office Takings:
The film opens with a forest, late at night. The lighting creates the shadows of hanging tree, which signifies something being unnatural.
We see a girl running through the trees, wearin a short skirt, a see through top, blonde and pretty. As she comes to an opening in the trees we see another woman, this woman is dressed all in black and is wearing a long dress. This shows an obvious contrast, the concept of Binary opposites. Both characters are holding a weapon, the audience are in suspense for a death in the opening scene.
The use of lightening allows flashes to show more of the characters and scare the audience by throwing it back into the unknown darkness.
The dialogue we hear from the young girl is breathless sobbing after she begs the older lady.
There is a small fight and the old lady's head is chopped off, and falls into a puddle, the young girl runs off. We then hear the old lady's voice, an after death speech, this can be found common in sequel horror films for their to be a dead person set the film up with dialogue.
The main aspect we closely looked at in this film was the variation of shot types
- Point Of View
- Shot Reaction Shot
- Over Shoulder
- Through The Trees.
Story Line: A group of young adults set up tent near the abandoned summer camp where a series of gruesome murders are said to have taken place back in 1980. The perpetrator was a grieving mother, driven insane by the drowning of her child, Jason, whom she believed was neglected by the camp counselors. As legend has it, the last survivor of the attacks beheaded the woman. But then Jason came back, and now he is a vengeful and inexorable killer, wielding crossbows, swords, axes and other sharp instruments. The legend proves horribly true, as these campers quickly discover. Six months later, the brother of one of those campers distributes posters of his missing sister. The police believe she took off with her boyfriend; but he knows better. The brother crosses paths with an uptight young rich guy who is having his girlfriend and friends over at his parents' cabin. The brother ends up at the cabin himself just before his sister's attacker sets upon them all.
